Two more Preppy Bands…
After just creating my top ten list of the preppiest bands, I realized I had forgotten some which are probably two of the most preppiest, despite being not well known.
The first is Vampire Weekend. They are a little punk-ish/indie rock, but deffinitly preppy as they met at Colombia Universtiy. In photographs they dress rather preppy, and their songs have some preppy undertones like “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” (Kwassa Kwassa refers to Congolese tribal dance music) and “Oxford Comma”
The other is Chester French; which is composed of two Harvard grads from Cambridge, MA. They are kind of pop music, and were offered a deal by Kanye West but turned it down for one from Pharell, another style concious (albeit not stylish) rapper. They named their band after the sculptor of the John Harvard Statue and Lincoln Memorial monument, which exentuates the preppiness.

Both these bands are a sort of indie alternative rock, so they don’t fit in with the preppiness that Michael Buble conveys, however their undertones are no doubt preppy at heart.

Vampire Weekend’s song “Oxford Comma” has to do with puncuation, specially the comma that predicates the word and in a list, like “peaches, carrots, and beets.” The song is about how the artists dont care about how to write it, i.e. “Who gives a fuck about an Oxford Comma”
