Clambake
So last weekend I went to a clambake, but I’ve been super busy all week so I forgot all about it. I know not everyone lives near the New England coast so a lot of people haven’t experienced
such an event, but I have to say it was a lot of fun. Its the first one I’ve been to, and I would definitely suggest going to one if you have the opportunity. I tried lobster as well as steamers (clams) for the first time, and I really liked them. They both are an acquired taste, its a little hard at first if you think “I’m eating something that looks kind of like a bug.” but I quickly got over it. The
rest of the evening went well. We played softball and volleyball with the little kids, but it was 94° out and very sunny, making sport slightly difficult. Nearly everyone I could see was wearing some sort of preppy clothing, a lot of Tommy Bahama, Vineyard Vines, and practically everyone had madras shorts. The host (the guy who owns the mansion in the photos) complemented me on my outfit; J Crew lobster shorts, and a Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo, saying “All right Man! Lookin’ the part! Way to go!” since I was eating lobster at the time. The Lobster shorts were completly unintentional, I wasn’t even thinking about how I was going to be eating lobsters when I put them on, but obviously it worked out well. Their house was amazing, overlooking the salt marshes with a huge sprawling lawn and fantastic view. I was, pretty envious, because its exactly the kind of house I would love to live in. Now all I need is about $8 million… Oh well. Anyways, all in all it was a really great experience…

Completely Random
Okay so I’m a little bit of a nerd and I’m a sucker for having my computer
look nice when I use it. So naturally I like to have a nice background/wallpaper. So I found this site today and it has some of the best backgrounds I have ever seen. I know this has nothing to do with preppiness and isn’t why you read my blog, but I just thought it was a cool site to check out and download some real intensly artistic wallpaper. And I swear they aren’t sponsoring me or anything, this is totally just a random tip. Anyways…
Preppy Shades…
As today was the fourth day over 85 here in Massachusetts, I thought I’d write something about sunglasses. I myself am a fan of them however my girlfriend refuses to wear them. Don’t know why but she thinks she looks goofy. Anyways, right now I just have some white plastic oakley’s but was looking to get another pair. I don’t think I want to be spending a huge amount of money, like most of these, but I want a good pair. I don’t want to look like I’m wearing huge girl sunglasses though, so
they should be masculine. Here are some I’m looking at if I can afford them that is…
Maui Jim Maka These are some nice wrap around glasses, and in my opinion look good, but at $280 they’re out of my range.

Next we have The Shield Glasses by Ralph Lauren. Ive always thought the model wearing these looked stone cold cool. Once again though, $220 is quite expensive for sunglasses. I could practically get a Wii!

.
In the midrange I like the Ray-Ban 4091. At $140 they are still an
expensive pair of glasses but they have the same wraparound look as the Maui Jims, and the brand name quality, yet not such a big price tag.
.
.
At only $20 American Eagle Aviators are as cheap as you can get
without looking stupid. While they kind of look cheap, that’s because they are but they still look surprisingly good with a lot of different things. Wearing aviators with shorts and a rolled up oxford shirt is perfect for going to the beach or a cookout.
.
.
You gotta have a pair of shutter shades… and at only $25 how can you not buy them?
.
.
So are these wrap around and shield glasses too feminine? Sure they look good on the models but in real life… who knows.
