Obama Wins the Nomination and thoughts on Preppy Politics

As you most likely already know, Barack Obama won the nomination for the Democratic party when he passed the required number of delegates last night. So the question is now what does this mean for preppy people?

Barack McCain preppy

Well first of all, I believe that people should make their own choices based purely on policy on whom they should vote for. But in terms of preppiness I can’t say that either candidate qualifies. Barack’s blue collar attitude, and McCain’s focus on the war really don’t convey anythign preppy. Some claim Hillary dresses preppy, but I guess I’m just not a fan of those women’s suit dress things or what ever theyre called that she is always wearing. John McCain could be a little bit preppy but I think that its just because he’s so gosh darn old, and conservative. I feel that some other candidates like Guiliani or perhaps mayor Bloomberg if he had run (which was rumored at one point) would have been considerably more preppy than the candidates now, who are trying there hardest to relate to blue collar people, despite pulling in around a million dollars a year. As far as the preppiest candidate goes, I would definitly have to choose Mitt Romney who dropped out early. Romney would have in my opinion been the preppiest candidate, since he has a few houses in New England and always dresses stylishly in mostly preppy attire. Plus he was the governor of Massachusetts, my home state and the heart of preppiness. Read more

A day in and already a change in direction

So instead of starting off this blog in just a random fashion. I figured I’d put some thought into what I was going to write about. I decided that the best things would be 1. Things that interest me, and 2. Things that I would like to read about and want to read this blog in particular for, yo. So I decided instead of commenting on things like the previous post all the time, I’m going to try to do some sort of news, about new developments that could affect or interest fellow preps, as well as features on different clothes, activities, events, products, etc. related to preppiness that I feel are intriguing. i know I’m probably not writing to very many people right now, but as my reader base grows I hope to get some input on whether this is what people want to read about.

Here’s to success!

Welcome to Diet Preppy!

Welcome to the Diet Preppy Blog!

I starteed this blog because I really enjoy wearing preppy clothes and living the lifestyle that they convey. However searching on the Internet yielded few other resources for fellow preppy people.

Being preppy does not mean that one has to be snobby, or condescending, only that they enjoy dressing well and being civilized. I feel being preppy has gotten a bad wrap from people and aim to change that in some small way. I don’t think that preppy people should be condemned by others as being shallow because this is largely not the case.

The name Diet Preppy is meant to sound kind of like Diet Pepsi (lame I know). I called it Diet because I feel like I am kind of a diet prep. Wearing nothing but preppy clothes and doing nothing but preppy things like sailing and playing polo can be entertaining, but it is not for most people. I still do a lot things that wouldn’t be considered preppy and lead a balanced life. That is why this blog is for those who need to get their “preppy fix” of sorts. You don’t have to be wearing vineyard vines, or nantucket reds everywhere you go to still enjoy the preppy lifestyle.

In this blog I hope to discuss preppy clothing, and activities from the both male and female perspective. I am a guy and I’m not gay, so I’d like to show that just because some guys dress nicely, it doesn’t mean they are automatically gay (even though there is nothing wrong with being gay). I would consider myself well cultured and live in Massachusetts, essentially the home of preppiness so I hope to offer a unique perspective.

I hope to grow this blog and myself in the coming months, so long live the Prep!
