Clambake

So last weekend I went to a clambake, but I’ve been super busy all week so I forgot all about it. I know not everyone lives near the New England coast so a lot of people haven’t experienced lobster Diet Preppysuch an event, but I have to say it was a lot of fun. Its the first one I’ve been to, and I would definitely suggest going to one if you have the opportunity. I tried lobster as well as steamers (clams) for the first time, and I really liked them. They both are an acquired taste, its a little hard at first if you think “I’m eating something that looks kind of like a bug.” but I quickly got over it. Theclambake clothes rest of the evening went well. We played softball and volleyball with the little kids, but it was 94° out and very sunny, making sport slightly difficult. Nearly everyone I could see was wearing some sort of preppy clothing, a lot of Tommy Bahama, Vineyard Vines, and practically everyone had madras shorts. The host (the guy who owns the mansion in the photos) complemented me on my outfit; J Crew lobster shorts, and a Ralph Lauren Big Pony polo, saying “All right Man! Lookin’ the part! Way to go!” since I was eating lobster at the time. The Lobster shorts were completly unintentional, I wasn’t even thinking about how I was going to be eating lobsters when I put them on, but obviously it worked out well. Their house was amazing, overlooking the salt marshes with a huge sprawling lawn and fantastic view. I was, pretty envious, because its exactly the kind of house I would love to live in. Now all I need is about $8 million… Oh well. Anyways, all in all it was a really great experience…

Thanks! Those shorts are so nice. I was a little hesitant buying them, but I’m glad I did.

Im assuming that the person wearing the navy polo and lobster shorts is you?

Have you ever considered wearing shorts with a shorter inseam? I have always considered it preppy-er to have your shorts stop just before your knee. In my opinion, shorts that completely cover the knee look to baggy and like something a little kid would wear.

Next time you ear the shorts and are around a mirror, try folding the bottom cuff-type thing on your shorts up and seeing how they look. I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

On second thought, maybe you are just wearing your shorts too low? Sagging ones pants or shorts is definitely not preppy.

Also, (sorry for all the suggestions) but where is your belt? With that particular outfit, I would suggest a navy vineyard vines belt. Or maybe a pink one if you are feeling bold.

I have a vineyard vines belt not to worry. I just wasnt wearing it in the picture. Yeah with the belt the shorts appear slightly shorter and fall around or a little above the knee.
